Anonymous Gilgamesh — An Old Babylonian Version (1920) Overview This is not a translation of Gilgamesh in the sense a general reader expects. It is the 1920 Yale University Press monograph in which Morris Jastrow Jr. (Professor of Semitic Languages at Pennsylvania) and Albert T. Clay (Professor of Assyriology and Babylonian Literature at Yale) published two clay tablets that had surfaced with a Baghdad dealer and been bought, within weeks of each other in the spring of 1914, by the University of Pennsylvania Museum and by Yale.
